Capitol Squash - Executive Director

Responsibilities:

Capitol Squash in Hartford, CT is seeking an Executive Director to lead an urban squash and educational afterschool program. Capitol Squash is following the NUSEA guidelines, and seeks to become a member in 2012. Capitol Squash has established a small program which includes: eight students, a strong board & advisory board, partnerships with elementary schools, court time, 501(c)3 status, and funds to support the program for the future. Capitol Squash has a solid foundation in place it is poised to grow which offers an outstanding opportunity to create a program that rivals the many high caliber urban programs throughout the country.

Capitol Squash is looking for an enthusiastic leader who is passionate, a self-starter, and has the business skills to build a program that will make a difference in the Hartford community for many years. The ED will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, managing a staff, building relationships with area schools, and ensuring that the program meets all the NUSEA guidelines. In addition, the ED will also be responsible for fundraising activities, event planning, marketing, managing the budget, and administration.

Minimum Qualifications for Candidates Include:

  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
  2. Extensive knowledge of Squash, coaching experience preferred.
  3. Leadership experience.
  4. A passion for working with children & teens.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in public speaking.

This is a minimum commitment of three years. Compensation will be $50K. Hartford is centrally located between New York and Boston, and offers very affordable housing. We are very fortunate to have a vibrant squash community anchored by Trinity College. Applicants must be able to legally work in the U.S. for the next three years.
